What is a Principal Investigator (PI)?

A Principal Investigator (PI) is the physician who provides medical oversight for a clinical trial. Through this role, you may delegate qualified personnel to complete various tasks so you can focus on patient safety and care.

Requirements to Become a PI?

To qualify as a Principal Investigator with 1-OAK, you need:

Current and valid MD, DO or NP License

N

Access to patient population in your specialty area (your own practice)

N

Willingness to obtain Good Clinical Practice Certification (GCP). We will guide you through this process

N

Passion for clinical trials and advancing medical research

Step 2: Initial Consultation
We’ll review your clinic’s needs, discuss certification steps, and explore the Sub-Investigator or PI process.

Step 3: Training & Certification
We’ll help you obtain Good Clinical Practice certification and provide comprehensive training.

Step 4: Launch Your First Study
